WHAT IS CANDIDA?
Candida Albicans is a single celled, fungal yeast. Because it is among the most prolific organisms on earth it is impossible to keep out of the body. Normally it does little harm because its population is kept in check by beneficial bacteria like acidophilus. Such friendly control bacteria, however, may be destroyed by birth control pills, anti-biotics, some drugs, poor diet and extreme stress. When this occurs, Candida grows out of control.

WHY IS THIS A PROBLEM?
Candida produces chemicals which are toxic to the human body. When the yeast grows beyond normal limits these chemicals flood the body triggering a wide variety of discomforts such as itching, irritability, depression, foggy thinking, fatigue, memory loss, rapid weight change, gas. bloating, diarrhea and dietary cravings. This overgrowth is thought to affect up to 40 million Americans.

WHAT CAN BE DONE?
For many years. the main weapons against Candida have been medications, and anti- fungal herbs. While often effective, these approaches have their limitations. First, many of the chemicals are hard on the liver. Second, as they poison the yeast, the yeast responds by releasing toxins which can cause healing crises. Third, the yeast can eventually develop a resistance to anti-fungals so that they are no longer effective.

CELLULASE ENZYMES TO THE RESCUE!!! and a new form of Candida management emerges. The wall of the Candida yeast cell is composed largely of cellulose, and it is vulnerable to digestion by Cellulase enzymes. It has no defense - it cannot change the structure of its cell wall. When the wall is ruptured, the yeast dies, but without being able to release any toxins! Most people have no problem with die-off, but some have reported problems. If you have serious Candida overgrowth of long standing, be conservative in your approach.
