SL-749 is a modified Zizyphus Combination which is an 1,800- year-old formula. Zizyphus Combination has the effects of relieving irritability and pacifying the spirit. It is commonly used in the treatment of insomnia, palpitations and night sweats. Experimental studies showed this recipe can inhibit the hyper-function and over excitation of the nervous system. Zizyphi Spinosi Semen, its principal herb, has a sedative and hypnotic effect and can inhibit the excitability induced by caffeine. It is also shown that this herb has a synergistic effect with barbital. Other ingredients, Albizziae Cortex, Poria and Polygoni Multiflori Caulis, are known for their ability of soothing emotion and relaxing the body.
